Just Beyond this Forest (DVD)

Set in 1942, film opens with an Aryan washerwoman arrival to the Warsaw's ghetto. The Jewish wife she worked for before the war hires her to take her young daughter to the countryside until the war is over. Seeing an opportunity to get some revenge for humiliations at the hand of her employers, the maid is rude and overbearing with them. But the desperate woman showers her with so much money and valuable gifts that she finally relents and takes the girl with her. When their train is stopped they begin to cross the countryside on foot, and during these long hours, the innocent youngster begins to charm her companion until they grow friendly. By the time they are stopped by German patrol, the former washerwoman is prepared to risk her life to protect her young charge. (Holocaust, 2006)
